I was mesmerized watching this gull go for it! At one point I thought he might give up, but he worked it out!!!!!! :)

That is one GREAT photo! You say it took 30 minutes for him to eat the star fish. Wow. Makes me wonder and wish I understood what muscles in the mouth were doing. We watched a great blue heron fishing one day. He caught the biggest fish ever and it took a good bit for it to swallow it, but only a minute or so, then I would have thought his tummy would have been very full, but he went right back to fishing. Thanks for sharing this photo. Ro
